Storm Water Detention and Drainage Area (Golf Course) Information
December 2011 - Boring trucks are on the golf course taking soil samples to determine what types of soils there are. This will determine CLCWA's options for what to do with the dirt when the detention facility construction starts.

Unfortunately due to the drought this year, over 60 dead trees have recently been removed from the detention facility.

May 2011 - The CLCWA purchased the Clear Lake Golf Course on May 6, 2011 for $6.25 million. The future plans are to use the facility to improve drainage in the Clear Lake area. The Water Authority will work with Harris County and engineers to design detention facilities. Once a design is in place, CLCWA hopes to partner with the City of Houston and Harris County Precinct 2 to help fund the project. Due to the effect the economy has had on all levels of government finance, CLCWA Board of Directors expect this project to take several years.

Harris County currently mows and maintains the flood control ditches and will continue to do so. The CLCWA has taken over the mowing of the 178 acres. The schedule is twice a month from March through September, and once a month from October through February.

Many residents have eagerly come forward with ideas and suggestions. If you have a suggestion, please send an email to: directors@clcwa.org.

Flooding
With flooding events occuring within in the Clear Lake area, the following form has been developed to report these events to the district's engineer. Using this form will help direct the engineers efforts to these areas for inspection. These forms will be sent to our engineering consultant directly. You can email it back to directors@clcwa.org, fax it to 281-488-3400, drop it off by our office at 900 Bay Area Blvd., or mail it in. Thank you for your cooperation.

TSARP Information
(Tropical Storm Allison Recovery Project)
The TSARP mission statement is: To assist residents of Harris County in recovery from Tropical Storm Allison and minimize damages from future floods by investigating the flood event and by developing current, accurate, and timely flood hazard information.

Topography and Drainage
The general area of the Authority ranges in elevation from 10 feet mean sea level along the extreme eastern boundary to about 35 feet mean sea level along the northwestern boundary. Substantially all existing areas or areas proposed for development within the Authority are above the projected 100-year flood plain. In the general area of the Authority, there are three well-defined major watersheds. The three major drainage channels are Horsepen Bayou on the west, Armand Bayou in the central area, and Cow Bayou on the south and discharge through Clear Lake into Galveston Bay. Drainage of the developed subdivisions is accomplished by means of enclosed storm sewer systems which outfall into improved channels of the three major streams.
